Virtuous Volunteer Day 2025: Putting Our Values Into Action

At Virtuous, supporting nonprofits is what we do every day.

Our typical approach? Powering the engine that is our Responsive fundraising platform. With our suite of connected fundraising, automation, and volunteer tools, we equip nonprofits to personalize outreach to every donor. All while spending less time on manual tasks.

But once a year, our whole team comes to a full stop. To serve in a very different way.

Virtuous Volunteer Day is a day where every team member volunteers at a nonprofit of their choice in the spirit of collective generosity.

At its core, Virtuous Volunteer Day embodies one of our main values: displaying radical generosity.

We know that personal relationships drive generosity. So, we prioritize our relationships with nonprofits by stepping into their worlds to feel what they feel. See what they see.

Virtuous Volunteer Day 2025: The 4th Annual Virtuous Volunteer Day

Virtuous Volunteer Day 2025 involved 25 teammates in Phoenix and 100_+remote participants!

October 16, 2025 was Virtuous Volunteer Day.

Here are the stats from 4th annual Virtuous Volunteer Day!

145 participants volunteered across the U.S. and beyond.

40+ cities activated, from Phoenix and Charleston…all the way to Brussels.

25 teammates in Phoenix served our own customer, Grand Canyon University.

100+ remote participants joined forces across cities!

Approx. 100 nonprofits supported, many powered by Virtuous CRM+.

→ All in all, we contributed approx. 325+ volunteer hours total.

Here are just a few ways our team showed up:

  • Sorted produce and pantry items for food distribution
  • Packed over 19,000 lbs of food for families in need
  • Cleaned up a watershed heavily impacted by storm debris
  • Supported animal shelters by prepping enrichment toys, doing laundry, and cuddling adoptable pets
  • Planted tulip bulbs and learned about regenerative farming practices
  • Spruced up a local pumpkin patch that supports mission-based initiatives
  • Served as personal shoppers at a community food bank
  • Helped pack food bags and restock shelves at a regional support center
  • Bagged over 2,600 lbs of apples and pears for community distribution
  • Served more than 350 warm meals to individuals experiencing homelessness

This is our day to have all hands on deck, supporting the causes we love!

Spotlight on Our Phoenix Team: Serving at Grand Canyon University

Virtuous Volunteer Day 2025

While we have employees based across various locations, we are a Phoenix-based company. So, we were especially excited to send 25 volunteers to serve our customer, Grand Canyon University

During our time there, our team focused attention on CityServe, a ministry of Grand Canyon University that brings together resources and partnerships to deliver life-changing support for individuals and families in need.

We helped the school with tech-related initiatives: unboxing, refurbishing, and testing e-bikes. Plus, refurbishing Chromebooks.

Grand Canyon University represents just one of the many customers we partnered with on Virtuous Volunteer Day.

Responsive to the Fundraisers We Support

Responsive Fundraising is the core principle that drives everything we build at Virtuous.

It’s the belief that generosity grows when nonprofits listen to donors, connect through personalized outreach, suggest timely next steps, and continuously learn from every interaction. At Virtuous, it’s the guiding philosophy behind everything we build and how we believe fundraising should feel: human, intentional, and deeply relational.

Virtuous Volunteer Day is how we live that belief

There’s something powerful about seeing firsthand how nonprofits are putting generosity into action. For us, it’s a reminder of why this work matters and a moment to connect with teammates, causes, and our mission.

Virtuous Volunteer: Powering the Day Behind the Scenes

Virtuous Volunteer was the platform that powered Virtuous Volunteer Day!

One of the best parts about Virtuous Volunteer Day is that we actually get to use our own platform…yet another way we put ourselves in the shoes of nonprofits.

While many of our products focus on fundraising, Virtuous Volunteer is fully dedicated to creating personalized (Responsive) volunteer experiences.

Using Virtuous Volunteer, our team members could easily filter by area code and the causes they care about to find their ideal nonprofit for Virtuous Volunteer Day!

We encourage all of our nonprofits to tap into the power of Virtuous Volunteer to simplify coordination and level up every volunteer experience.

With Virtuous Volunteer, you can:

Launch a custom-branded volunteer hub where supporters can easily discover and sign up for opportunities that match their passions.

Streamline scheduling with intuitive calendars and centralized shift coordination tools.

Empower volunteers with self-sign-up, reducing friction and accelerating engagement.

Send automated, timely communications via email and SMS to keep volunteers informed, reminded, and ready to serve.

Drive more signups with personalized landing pages tailored to your programs and events.
