Virtuous Responsive Awards

The Virtuous Responsive Awards were created to spotlight the incredible ways nonprofits are transforming generosity, through automation, innovation, storytelling, and responsive donor engagement.

These awards are your opportunity to celebrate your organization’s impact, recognize your team’s hard work, and inspire the larger Virtuous community with your success.

Self-Nominated award Categories

As a Virtuous customer, you’re invited to submit your organization for any of the five award categories below. Yes, you can apply for more than one!

To apply, you’ll need:

Note: Winners must be present at the Virtuous User Summit to receive their award

Data Storytelleraward

Recognizing an organization that has used innovative reporting and data visualization to unlock insights, drive strategy, and enhance fundraising success.

Include at least 3 of the following in your submission:

  • The problem or decision you needed data to support.
  • Screenshots or descriptions of reports/dashboards built.
  • Strategic outcomes or actions informed by these data insights.
  • Explanation of how staff or leadership uses these data insights today.
  • How often these data reports are reviewed or shared.
  • Any unexpected data insight that shaped a new strategy.

Campaign Excellence award

Honoring an outstanding donor-facing campaign that demonstrated creativity, impact, and responsiveness—connecting with supporters in a meaningful and effective way.

Include at least 3 of the following in your submission:

  • Description of the campaign goal, audience, and creative strategy.
  • Visuals or messaging examples that showcase the campaign’s uniqueness.
  • Metrics that demonstrate campaign success (e.g., opens, clicks, etc.).
  • Timeline of campaign rollout (pre-launch, launch, follow-up).
  • Any A/B testing or iteration insights.
  • Donor or community response (qualitative or anecdotal).

Efficiency Architectaward

Celebrating the nonprofit that has mastered automation to eliminate manual processes, increase efficiency, and free up more time for meaningful donor engagement.

Include at least 3 of the following in your submission:

  • Examples of key manual processes you’ve automated.
  • Tools or workflows implemented through Virtuous automation.
  • Time or resource savings and how that’s been reinvested in donor engagement.
  • Before/after snapshot of a key workflow.
  • Number of staff or teams impacted by the change.
  • Any feedback or testimonials from staff using the improved process.

Giving Experience award

Highlighting a beautifully designed and high-converting donation form that made giving seamless, inspiring generosity and increasing donor engagement.

Include at least 3 of the following in your submission:

  • A link or screenshot of your donation form.
  • Thought process behind the design and donor experience.
  • Results tied to conversion rates, gift amounts, or donor feedback.
  • Mobile vs. desktop performance insights (if available).
  • A description of any testing or changes made post-launch.
  • Screenshots or examples of confirmation or thank-you experiences.

Inbox Impactaward

Awarded to a nonprofit that created an engaging, well-crafted email campaign that broke through the noise, connected with supporters, and drove real results.

Include at least 3 of the following in your submission:

  • Purpose and audience of your email campaign.
  • Samples of the email campaign (text or visuals).
  • Key results (open/click-through rates, revenue, actions taken).
  • Personalization or segmentation tactics used.
  • How the campaign fits into a broader donor journey or initiative.
  • Any follow-up content or replies that show supporter engagement.

Virtuous selected awards

In addition to self-nominated categories, Virtuous will recognize five additional winners based on platform data:

Responsive Fundraiser of the Year

This award goes to the individual who has embraced responsive fundraising strategies, using data to personalize engagement and deepen donor relationships.

Responsive Nonprofit of the Year

Awarded to the organization leading the way in responsive fundraising, using donor signals, automation, and data-driven engagement to create a more connected and generous supporter base.

Automation Excellence Award

Recognizing an organization that has successfully leveraged automation within Virtuous to drive efficiency, streamline donor interactions, and scale impact.

Innovation Ally Award

This award recognizes a dedicated Virtuous user who has played a pivotal role in shaping the platform through their valuable feedback. Their insights have helped refine features, improve user experience, and drive innovation, making Virtuous even more powerful for the entire nonprofit community.

Community Impact Award

This award honors the organization that has made the greatest impact through volunteer efforts, mobilizing people, strengthening communities, and advancing their mission through service.

Why Apply?

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Current Virtuous Customers who will be registered for and attending the User Summit August 19-21, 2025 in Minneapolis, MN. Customers must be registered for the summit no later than June 13, 2025.
  • Work submitted must have execution dates on or after January, 2024.

Submissions close June 13, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST

Please select an award category to nominate your organization (you may apply for more than one category). You must be attending the User Summit in order to win any award. For each selected category, please submit the following:

  • A 2-minute or less video describing your work.
  • A short written summary (200–300 words) that includes:
    • An overview of the project or initiative you’re submitting.
    • The results or outcomes you’ve seen so far.

There is no entry fee to submit work for the Responsive Awards.

If you are applying for the Giving Experience award, then it needs to feature the Virtuous giving platform, however, if you  are showing how Virtuous helped you be successful on another award, then it’s OK to have another donation platform.
